Caring Kids

Sunday, 5 December 2021 - Sunday, 19 December 2021

In this season of joy, let’s encourage our kids to be the light for other kids as well. We are collecting “shoeboxes” for the children of homeless and undocumented migrants.

De Nieuwe Stad in Amsterdam Bijlmer East is a meeting place for many migrant churches and community leaders. They provide food and clothes to the homeless and to undocumented migrants on a daily basis.
Over a thousand people depend on the churches of De Nieuwe Stad for their basic needs.

Many of the migrants have no home of their own and the children sleep with their mama on the couch of someone else’s livingroom. They don’t have any toys or stationery. At De Nieuwe Stad these children are supported throughout the year by providing safe places for them to play and grow as well as meals and clothes.

This Christmas we want to surprise them with gift boxes filled with toys, crafts materials and other much needed items.

Here are some fill ideas for the shoeboxes:

Toys, boys & girls: PlayDo, puzzles, music insturments, blocks, lego, knuffles/soft toys, colouring books, books, skipping rope, ball, yoyo, domino’s.
For boys: car, super heroes, walkie talkie, toy watch
For girls: princess toys/dresses, unicorn toys,

Practical items, backpack, small articles of clothing: beanie (muts), gloves, scarf, socks.

Personal care, bar of soap, toothpaste, tooth brush, hair accessories, toiletry bag.

School items, notebooks, pens, colouring pencils, ruler, pencil case, sharpener, glue

It would be nice to add a Christmas card with a message and scripture  for the kids.
