GO TEAM 2019 – Cross Over Zimbabwe

For the past 7 years Crossroads have been developing a relationship with Cross Over, a school, located in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe, that serves children that have dropped out of the regular school system.

Cross Over aims to help vulnerable children in Zimbabwe to live and work towards a hopeful future by providing a holistic, quality education within a strong nurturing environment.

This year we are sending GO TEAM to Zimbabwe to support the Cross Over projects. If this something you would like to be a part of, then read further to discover the different ways you can get involved:

PRAYER TEAM:

One of the most important aspects of an outreach is prayer. In this specific instance prayer support for those who are going (while they are preparing and while they are away) by those who are not able to go themselves.

PREPARATION TEAM:

If you have specific skills pertaining to one of the teams going to Cross Over, but you are unable to go yourself and would like to contribute, please let us know.

(PARTLY) SPONSOR:

If you are unable to go yourself, but would like to enable someone else to go by contributing towards or covering their costs.

DONATE:

Donations would assist the teams to bless Cross Over with much needed physical resources ie. basic art and crafts materials, stationery, musical instruments, sport equipment and materials needed for renovations and gardening.

GO TEAM TO CROSS OVER : 13-28 JULY 2019

GO TEACHER – Team size 5-7

This team would:

• Coach mentors
• Arts & crafts for students and/or mentors
  • You will be putting together a set of art/craft lessons to do with each class. There are 7 different grades that does art once a week for an hour, so that would be a lesson for each class of 12 – 16 kids. Topics will be provided so that the art/crafts could be relevant.
• Sports Coaching
  • Football for the boys and netball for the girls and the younger children do physical education (exercises and ball skills).
• Music input for mentors & students
  • putting together some music and rhythm coaching for mentors and students.
  • worship time including singing every morning.
• It would be helpful if some of these team members are English first language primary level teachers.

GO PRODUCTION TEAM – Team size 5-7

This team would:

• Help with producing visual/audio and video material for Cross Over for:
  • Lessons
  • Classroom games and activities
  • Help with the putting together of poetry and song tracks
• Be people who:
  • like to act and/or present who are first language English speakers.
  • are willing to working with Cross Over on visual material for lessons and books (readers) they are developing.
  • are illustrators/graphic designers.
  • cameraman/woman

GO PRACTICAL TEAM – Team size 5-7

This team would:

• Improve the appearance of the grounds and gardens at Cross Over as part of being responsible tenants.
  • Design and plant gardens on the grounds
  • Introduce the water-wise concept and work together with the students to implement it as part of their agricultural programme and to develop an appreciation for the beauty of God’s design.
• General repair and maintenance work
