love comes to town

As a part of our vision of Engage The World, this year we have two campaigns to come together, take action and make an impact. Our first campaign, Love Comes To Town, will focus on reaching out in love to our local community. Mission month, in August, is our second campaign where we focus on mission work globally.

Projects

Love in Action

When: May 5^th – May 26^th 2019, anytime

What: This is our main activity for the campaign in which people can do it as a group or individually whenever and wherever they are. In this activity, we are preparing small cards with encouraging words, you can to take these cards and give it away when you do acts of love towards your friends, colleagues, neighbours even strangers. You can also do it together with your family or your LIFE group.
The cards would be available at the Connect Point from May 5^th to May 26^th 2019 so that you can take it and spread the love whenever and wherever you are. It will be also available in digital format in the XRDS app/website, you can download and send it as digital message.

GO B.U.G! (GO Be Unbelievably Good)

When: May 5^th – May 26^th 2019, anytime

What: The GO BUG! campaign is an initiative of Crossroads International Church to help the children in our community reach out to those around them with love and kindness. We believe that these small acts of kindness can make a big impact in the world and give people a small glimpse into the heart of God.
Children age 4-12 will be given random acts of kindness examples and will receive GO B.U.G! cards from the Sunday school. They are encouraged to practice the acts of kindness to those around them and pass the card to the receiver. It is expected that the cards will be passed on to continue making a positive impact.
GO B.U.G! cards would be available at the classroom from May 5^th to May 26^th 2019, every Sunday the teacher will ask some of the children to share what act of kindness they did in the previous week.

Love Your City

When: May 25^th 2019, 10:00 – 16:00

What:Together with fellow XRDS-ers, we are going to do practical and social projects around Amsterdam, Amstelveen and surrounding. With the help of Serve the City organization we have a variety of projects, please see the detail of the available projects HERE.

Food Bank

When: May 19^th 2019, 09:30 – 12:30

What: Cooperating with Voedselbanken (http://voedselbankamstelveen.nl) we are collecting and donating food. The food bank strives to provide a healthy and varied food package to the 100 families in Amstelveen that are temporarily unable to provide for their daily diet. The food bank thus combats poverty, removes food surpluses and reduces the burden on the environment.
You can bring the the following food items:
Pasta – pasta sauce – macaroni – rice – syrup (limonadesiroop)
Breakfast cereal (onbijtgranen) – pancake mix (pannenkoekmix) – ‘onbijtkoek’ – soup package in tin or ‘zakje’
Coffee – tea – sugar – ‘beschuit’ – rice cake (rijstwafels)
Instant mashed potato (aardappelpuree) – vegetables in tin or pot – fruit (in tin or pot)

Clothing Collection

When: May 26^th 2019, 09:30 – 12:30

What: We are also collecting clothes from our community to give to people in need. Please bring clean and in good repair clothes that you don’t wear anymore.

From Field to Friendship

When: May 24^th 16:00 – 18:30 and May 25^th 2019 15:00 – 17:30

What: We organise kids soccer clinic to reach children in the surroundings, the friends of kids in our community. Through sport we build relationship and show acts of kindness.
